Well, if what I said would really be "anti-American", then I guess that 98% of the world population (including the majority of US citizens) is anti-American :lol2:
You're close, but you have your percentages wrong. Anti-American sentiment is rampant around the world, but it's not 98%. And the percentage of US citizens who are anti-American is a known figure - roughly 20% - which is the percentage of US citizens who call themselves Liberals.

Well, last time I checked the majority of Americans voted Liberal in the last election. So we can conclude that, according to your point of view, the majority of Americans are anti-American. :silly:

And you still haven't given an answer to why the US is seen as the "biggest global peace threat" (even in those countries supposedly "freed" by the US) if all the Americans ever did was spread peace and freedom. You can of course resort to your usual "they are all just morons" explanation, but that hypothesis is beginning to look a tiny bit implausible ;)

I am proud of many parts of German (and its predecessors) history and culture, but obviously I am not proud of some parts of the 20th century.

By the way, just for the record: I am not even a "leftie" or "liberal". I detest "social democracy". So your "brain-dead liberal" label doesn't stick at all.

You mean the last election that saw 64 republicans take office, and the liberal party get sent reeling? That last election?

When Russia cuts off Europe's oil and gas supplies we'll see what Europe is made of.

Not likely to happen as it would mean economic suicide. Outside of some military hardware, hydrocarbons and raw materials are Russia's only exports.

As well, I like Russia, Russian people and I speak the language moderately well. I am also known to be very blunt with people who talk nonsense about Russia. Just ask FMElliot over at Fat Shirley's. I really don't wish to have to say to you what I said to him last spring when he implied that the Russian government had orchestrated the crash of the Polish plane in which President of Poland and other Polish dignitaries perished.

I meant the last election for the US president. Today the liberals are lower in the polls. In another year they may be higher again. Or lower. That's irrelevant for my point, which is that it is ridiculous to call a political position "anti-American" that has the majority in elections in regular intervalls.

Most of us could teach you some wisdom.

We could teach you the wisdom of making a living, sometimes by doing things you'd rather not, because other people depend on you. Or, to paraphrase Drake, when a man has a family, he is a hostage to fortune. You know nothing of this.

We could teach you the wisdom of starting a business and making a payroll. Not to mention how to keep the business going. You know nothing of this.

We could teach you that most of the most important and valuable things you will learn in life are not found behind the brick walls of academe nor its ivory towers. Many educators are quite good at what they do and afew are quite marvelous, but I've found a huge number of them are the personnification of inadequate mediocrity, teaching what they cannot quite do. This you do not know.

But you will...or you will not.

According to most all the polls, those who call themselves liberal in the US consistently account for roughly 20% of the country, regardless of who gets elected.

No need to be a smart ass, my question requires only a yes or no answer, not a "differentiated" one. It has nothing to do with my "black and white" thinking, you are dodging my question. Are you proud of your country or not - just answer the question. You have insisted we apply black and white thinking to your anti-Americanism, so we must now do that same thing here.

Well, the fact is that a majority of those who vote vote liberal in regular intervals. Even if some of those voters don't call themselves "liberal" they obviously still consider the liberals (= the "anti-American position") the lesser evil.

Where have I "insisted we apply black and white thinking to your anti-Americanism"?? I don't get that at all.

Some questions don't have a simple answer. Neither "yes" nor "no" would reflect how I feel about it, so both of them would be wrong. Is that so hard to understand?

No. At least not against Western Europe. Ukraine and Belorus are a different matter.

Russia herself. She needs the cash energy exports earn.

Americans really ought get over the engrained Russophobia that grew out of the cold war era.
