she makes a million speaking gaffes because she doesn't have a clue. isn't there a bomb button or something in the white house that if she win, God forbid, she'd have access to?

I am about up to here with her media exploitation.

The more media attention Palin gets there more she reveals herself to be unsuitable as a political leader in any capacity other than a small town mayor or village reeve. This is vulgar entertainment for everyone- not just Americans.

In the meantime, grab some popcorn and sit back an enjoy the spectacle.

What's really amazing is watching people like you still defending the silly woman. It's hugely entertaining (albeit a bit disturbing) to the rest of the world. Pass the popcorn.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

If you mean me, perhaps you're not watching the same news stories as I am, but I don't see anything to justify the view that she's a "silly woman". I see a woman whose mind works fast, and sometimes trips over words trying to convey what's on her mind. I see a woman who can discuss a thousand things with a far deeper level of understanding of the issues than Obama could ever dream of having, and then the one verbal gaff she makes is the only thing the media bothers to talk about.

I hope she doesn't run, because I think she needs more time. But if she does run, I hope she wins, because I believe the things she stands for and the things she sees as important are things this country desperately needs to get back to - and as for the rest of the world, well, if they don't like it they can kiss our collective asses.

For me at least, Palin's almost as entertaining and disturbing as Vlad Zhirinovsky was back in the '90's.

What's really amazing is that she could actually get elected, given the right circumstances.

It's not really a defense, it is just showing the hypocrisy of the left in attacking her on the same grounds that they are so very vulnerable and systematically ignore in their own candidates and party leaders.

It should also be pointed out that Palin caught her mistake and corrected it within a matter of seconds after saying it, showing that she knew she had made a slip of the tongue - yet Obama has yet to clarify his "57 states" comment, or his comment about the "20 centuries" the US has been around....

YOKOSUKA, Japan (NNS) -- The USS George Washington carrier strike group will join Republic of Korea (ROK) naval forces in the waters west of the Korean peninsula from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1 to conduct the next exercise in the series announced at the 2+2 meetings in July.

This exercise is defensive in nature. While planned well before yesterday's unprovoked artillery attack, it demonstrates the strength of the ROK-U.S. Alliance and our commitment to regional stability through deterrence. It is also designed to improve our military interoperability.

U.S. Navy ships scheduled to participate include the USS George Washington (CVN 73) with an embarked carrier air wing (CVW 5), USS Cowpens (CG 62), USS Lassen (DDG 89), USS Stethem (DDG 63), USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62).

U.S. and allied operations are built on an already strong foundation of cooperation and this exercise is intended to further enhance interoperability. The U.S. and ROK forces will conduct air defense and surface warfare readiness training.

The U.S. Navy routinely operates in the waters off the Korean peninsula and has conducted numerous operations and exercises in this area. In October 2009 the George Washington strike group conducted similar operations in the international waters west of the Korean peninsula. U.S. aircraft carriers frequently visit the Korean peninsula and conduct port visits in Busan; such as USS George Washington in 2010, USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74)in March 2009, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), USS Nimitz (CVN 68) and USS George Washington in 2008.

For a list of participating ROK forces, please contact ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff Public Affairs.

Agreed.

Some folks are worried about Palin's speaking gaffes.

I'm more worried about a rogue nation and a carrier group that is entirely capable of turning North Korea...and China...into radioactive slag.

No, this thread has served 2 purposes. First, it has documented the fact that the media is gunning for Palin and even an obvious mis-speak is treated like an actual gaffe. Over the last several years it has become apparent that Palin is not damaged by such biased coverage but is instead strenghtened by it since the bias is so transparent. Second, it has been a Quirt magnet. Sadly it has faiiled in it's second function.

Just finished listening to an interview of Sarah Palin. The woman's understanding of what made this country great is dead on the money. Which might explain why the left thinks she's stupid - they don't know themselves.

For some people, denial is simply a river in Egypt.

Palin ain't stupid. Not even close to stupid. Stupid people do not come from middle class families and find themselves elected governor of a state. Stupid people do not wind up on a major party political ticket. Stupid people do not self-make millions of dollars in one year.

Right now, Palin is doing NOTHING according to the regular political script. And she's doing pretty well, all considered.

Again, she would not be the candidate I'd support in the primaries, if she did run. But it is fun watching folks on the Left go ape-shiite whenver her name is mentioned...

A Thanksgiving Message to All 57 States

by Sarah Palin

My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…

Of course, the paragraph above is based on a series of misstatements and verbal gaffes made by Barack Obama (I didn’t have enough time to do one for Joe Biden). YouTube links are provided just in case you doubt the accuracy of these all too human slips-of-the-tongue. If you can’t remember hearing about them, that’s because for the most part the media didn’t consider them newsworthy. I have no complaint about that. Everybody makes the occasional verbal gaffe – even news anchors.

Obviously, I would have been even more impressed if the media showed some consistency on this issue. Unfortunately, it seems they couldn’t resist the temptation to turn a simple one word slip-of-the-tongue of mine into a major political headline. The one word slip occurred yesterday during one of my seven back-to-back interviews wherein I was privileged to speak to the American public about the important, world-changing issues before us.

If the media had bothered to actually listen to all of my remarks on Glenn Beck’s radio show, they would have noticed that I refer to South Korea as our ally throughout, that I corrected myself seconds after my slip-of-the-tongue, and that I made it abundantly clear that pressure should be put on China to restrict energy exports to the North Korean regime. The media could even have done due diligence and checked my previous statements on the subject, which have always been consistent, and in fact even ahead of the curve. But why let the facts get in the way of a good story? (And for that matter, why not just make up stories out of thin air – like the totally false hard news story which has run for three days now reporting that I lobbied the producers of “Dancing with the Stars” to cast a former Senate candidate on their show. That lie is further clear proof that the media completely makes things up without doing even rudimentary fact-checking.)

“Hope springs eternal” as the poet says. Let’s hope that perhaps, just maybe, they might get it right next time. When we the people are effective in holding America’s free press accountable for responsible and truthful reporting, then we shall all have even more to be thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
