Next thing you know, she'll be saying it's the 58th state, where they speak Austrian.

Just couldn't resist...either.

Once I got a good clear look at her background, I regarded this woman as a know-nothing airhead. At some point, all the justifications about her tortured process through college, the airbrushing of her ignorant gaffes, and the forced smile celebrations of her 'homespun wisdom" simply collapse on themselves. This is a truly uninformed person. I don't know if she lacks that ability to understand a two or three step argument, or if she is just stubbornly persistent in affirming her ignorance. Either way, if she is the face of modern republicanism, count me out.

Pulling the lever for McCain with this twit at his tail was oh so difficult.

The CBS Story on this:
Quote:

A simple north-south slip of the tongue or not, Sarah Palin's latest gaffe couldn't have come at a worse time for the Tea Party icon, geo-politically speaking.

In a live radio interview Wednesday with equally popular conservative host Glenn Beck, Palin twice referred to North Korea as America's ally and urged President Obama to firmly demonstrate the alliance.

The first reference was the less glaring mistake.

"We're not having a lot of faith that the White House is going to come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that North Korea is going to do," Palin told Beck.

It's unclear whether she referenced the correct Korea and simply misused the term "sanction" -- which, as stated, means to approve or validate, or if she meant to say South Korea, the U.S. ally, in reference to any actions that nation may take in retaliation to past or future attacks from the North.

One might even have missed that gaffe, had she not said just seconds later: "Obviously, we gotta stand with our North Korean allies."

...

Palin's remarks come as the Obama administration, and it's ally (South Korea), mull prepare to conduct long-planned naval exercises off the Korean Peninsula. The move is sure to stoke further anger in North Korea, which earlier this week attacked a tiny South Korean island with a barrage of artillery fire, leaving four people dead and more than a dozen wounded.

"Mull prepare?"

What the hell does that mean?

Oh, I get it. The guy writing (writing) this story obviously mis-spoke typed.

It's an error that's surely forgivable, right?

Points made and understood, P*D, but the hypocrisy of slamming someone when they mis-speak (and, for the record, she *did* correctly identify South Korea as our ally earlier in the interview - why wasn't that mentioned?) and giving others a pass when they mis-speak is breathtaking.

"Tortured process through college?" How about looking at the transcripts, applications, and writings of "the other guy."

Oh, yeah, they're not available.

Wonder why.

I'm no great fan of Palin either, but the repeated bashing of her when the "other guy" gets a pass bothers me. If there's any airbrushing going on, you're looking at the wrong place. The press dispatched more reporters and investigators to Wasilla than they ever, ever , dispatched to Chicago to look at the "other guy." And that's my point.

George,

The other guy graduated from Columbia, was president of the Harvard Law Review, and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago for eight years.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of the 'equal treatment' excuse for bashing Obama and deflecting criticism of Palin. She's a nothing, pure and simple. One can despise Obama, but I'll take his resume over hers in a flash.

If you're referring to Barry, those are two completely different issues.

Palin is a moron, that's why she's an unfit leader. But as for Obama and his citizenship, that has nothing to do with his inherent leadership qualities, it has to do with paperwork. That might be an important issue (to me it's not but that's just me), but I don't think anyone's criticizing Obama because of his intelligence. I don't like him because he made a lot of bad calls, not because he doesn't know the difference between North and South Korea.

He seems to be a billboard president, P*D. I would agree that his academic pedigree is more substantial and impressive than Palin's (which no one disputes), but his meteoric rise can be neither explained in terms of solely his own efforts nor even substantiated because of the suppression of all of his academic records. Doesn't the fact that there is a blackout on his academic record bother you even a wee bit?

Other than what's on his resume (and no, I'm dragging the birthed canard out here, not by a longshot), what's really known about him? None of his writings, other than the self-fellating hagiographic autobiographies.

None of his writings as Pres of Law review.
None of his writings or meetings in the Illinois legislature
None of his applications

I agree he's smart and savvy. But, what do you know about him, and what do you know about how he got there.

My point stands. When Obama or Biden gaffe, it's ignored, when Palin does, it's headlines. Even by guys who can't type - or who don't have editors who can.

And she does - as she indicated earlier in the interview - the part that CBS interestingly omitted.

What resume? He had none before he was president, and now he can put that on his resume, though he might not want to highlight it. Otherwise he has zero experience - what, sat in a seat as a senator for 3 years and did absolutely nothing is experience?

You're right, Steve, she is savvier and smarter than that -- but *still* more so than Obama, who does not reflect the working class in American at all.

You know, I'm more than two clicks to the right of center, and yet I can't abide Palin. If youse guys want to embrace this lady as your political standard bearer, go right ahead. She made a speaking gaffe.

Big whoop.

Get y'all's dead arse out in front of a microphone and keep it there for awhile. You won't only have gaffes, half of you would only be semi-coherent.

While she's not my first choice in the coming primaries (provided she runs), I'll take a few gaffes or Bushisms anyday over the slick, soulless, socialist scheisskopf we currently enjoy in the White House.

Having spent many an hour in front of a microphone and an audience, I know exactly how much in command a person can be if they have done their proverbial homework. I guess I'm just picky. I think a major political leader in this country should have at least as much confidence and command in front of an audience as I do.

“My fellow Americans in all 57 states, time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate - from the FBI's 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel's. And let's face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don't know what the term is in Austrian..."

You may be on to something there...
