Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

His playing brings so many questions to mind. Like:
.
.
.
.
.

How in the Sam Hill can anybody play that fast?
.
.
.
.

And, what right do I have to even think about spending the money on a grand when there are people in the world who can really play?

.

And, how in the Sam Hill can anybody play that fast?

Nice, George. Thanks. :thumb:

To answer PattyP's questions:

1. One can play that fast by (a) having a favorable genetic makeup for such an activity, (b) getting the right sort of instructions at a young age, before it's too late, (c) lots of practice, lots of sacrifice in other aspects of life.

2. You have the right to spend the money on a grand because it's your money. It's long known that "money" and "type of piano owned" has little to no correlation to "piano playing proficiency." If it's any comfort, you can argue that "it's precisely because I don't play that well, that I need that much more help from a really, really nice piano." ;)

Everyone near my age remembers "Bumble Boogie." There was a version back in the 60s that was done by a group called "B Bumble and the Stingers".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._Bumble_and_the_Stingers
Quote:

"Bumble Boogie"

Hall then came up with the idea for B. Bumble and the Stingers, taking the same approach to a piece of classical music. Prompted by record producer Kim Fowley, he approached pianist Jack Fina, whose 1946 swing arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumble Bee" for Freddy Martin and his Orchestra, called "Bumble Boogie" (RCA Victor 20-1829), had reached # 7 on the charts and been used in the 1948 Walt Disney animated film Melody Time. Using Fina's arrangement, Fowley recorded pianist Ernie Freeman on two tracks, one using a grand piano for the rhythm part, whilst the other featured a doctored upright with thumb tacks attached to the hammers. The other musicians on the session, at Gold Star Studios, were Palmer on drums, Red Callender on bass, and Tommy Tedesco on guitar.[2]
"Bumble Boogie" went to # 21 on the Billboard charts in June 1961. Because the session musicians all had other studio commitments, a teen band from Ada, Oklahoma, who had played no part in the recording itself, were recruited to handle promotion and public appearances. Their names were given as Fred Richards, Don Orr, and "B. Bumble", a pseudonym for guitarist R. C. Gamble.[3][4]

Here is their original (and much slower) version:

Then, about 5 years ago, my friend the general surgeon turned me on to a guy named Rob Rio:

http://www.robrio.com/

You can hear a brief sample of his version here: http://www.amazon.com/Bumble-Boogie/dp/B0014CZU3U/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1290002525&sr=8-22

We listen to him frequently when doing colon resections :lol2: : It makes things go faster.

My favorite Rob Rio song is "Chiropractor Blues."

:sing:
"You know I wanna be your chiropractor baby,
You know I wanna jump on your bones.
I said, I wanna be your chiropractor darlin,
I wanna jump on your bones.

Yeah, I wanna rearrange your vertebrae
And crack all your erogenous zones.

You came to me this morning,
Said you had a pain
Started way down in your lower back,
And went up all the way to your brain..."

:sing:
