I had some dried cranberries sent down to me so that Iīd have them in time for Thanksgiving. I have two bags of Craisins. What to do with them?? Iīm going to a Thanksgiving celebration where there will be probably about 12-15 people. Anybody have any good ideas for what I could do with my cranberries? Sauce would be nice, but obviously two bagsī worth of cranberries wonīt be enough for that many people. I was thinking maybe oatmeal cranberry cookies or some such thing. Or, maybe some kind of sauce for putting over the bird? |

Do you have access to oranges or orange juice? Combining crans with orange is wonderful for making sauces, or you could do a sweetbread with them. Since you have internet access, check out some recipes that pull those flavors together. Especially for people who have never had the tartness of crans, it might be good to mellow them by combining them with the orange flavors. |

i put them in cookies with white chocolate chips.. they look awesome. (just use the tollhouse recipe but forget the chocolate chips. I also put them in banana bread and in salads (with sliced almonds). you'd probably have an instant sauce if you just covered them with boiling water and let them sit.. you might have to boil them for a while. I like super plain cranberries. |

I do too, every morning in fact. I also add them to sauteed spinach, with some sliced garlic. Yum. |

I put them in rice, along with toasted pine nuts and roasted garlic. I use a wild/brown rice mix for this recipe. Soak them in water for a few before adding them to the rice. |

Brenda - good call with the orange combo. Yeah, oranges grow on trees around here. PD - Itīs been a huge effort for me not to use these bags myself for that very purpose! apple - Totally didnīt think of the salad option. Thatīs perfect! Simple, but maximizing the flavor. Iīd love to boil them and make a sauce, but I donīt think that would yield much sauce for each person. |

Yum! I ditto the cranberries in salad. I use spinach, cranberries, sliced almonds, and feta with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Also--at Thanksgiving we usually do sweet rolls with cranberries and an orange icing drizzled over. Super yummy. You can also do quinoa with cranberries. |
