My son in Atlanta has a fire truck that he converted for tailgating at the Georgia Tech football games. My wife and I went down to join the party this last weekend. A photographer from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution showed up and took a few photos which I've linked below. Sam Huffman cooks chicken in front of his fire truck while tailgating before the Georgia Tech vs Miami game on the campus of Georgia Tech. He paid $2800.00 for the truck on Ebay. The truck was a working fire truck when he purchased it. The truck has a custom beer tap, stereo system, flat screen television and custom bench seats. I've seen ambulances reused, but never a fire truck! Looks like you all had a good time.

That rocks, need one done up in Black & Gold! The Atlanta Journal Constitution write ups left me with a question, though. Was that a working fire truck when it was bought? And does it have a custom beer tap, stereo system, flat screen television and custom bench seats? |
| The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it. | |

It was a working fire truck when my son bought it and it still has the pumps and valves intact. It has a 477 CI Ford engine/chassis and gets about 4 miles to the gallon. That was the worst part about driving back from Indiana where it was purchased to Georgia, especially because gas was about $4/Gallon at the time or in other words about a dollar a mile. Long term, it might get a new engine, although it doesn't travel too far to get to home games and the annual Georgia/Georgia Tech battle in either Atlanta or Augusta. It was yellow, but was partially repainted to add the Georgia Tech-related logos and other details like a honeycomb pattern on the white portion. The seats were installed topside where ladders used to be stored and the beer tap and stereo equipment were fitted into compartments that used to hold fire gear. A roll-out awning was added to the curb side with brackets below to hold a flat screen TV connected to a DirectTV dish on the top. There's an empty compartment at the rear that originally was going to hold a grill, but the paint job's too nice to trash with smoke from the grill. The son fries up some good chicken if I say so myself and I can't fault his selection at the tap. He had a keg of 21st Amendment IPA in there on Saturday, ideal for a sunny 70 degree day in Atlanta.
