Keep it low key and relaxed. It's no big deal. Just make it 2 hours at a time.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

+1

Take it easy on yourself, Frank. Every cigarette not smoked is a good thing.

It's hard to quit.
I used to quit, and then start up again casually (never like i used to at a pack a day). Over the last two years, I got into a cycle where I would have one cigarette when I got home from work, or I would smoke a pipe. In my mind, I wasn't a smoker, as I didn't *need* to smoke, I was simply choosing to out of sheer enjoyment, but controlling it enough that it wasn't something I had to do during the day.
After my heart sickness though, the doc said "yeah, you definitely shouldn't smoke anymore, even though you were doing it socially." So that was it - I haven't had one since then.
I'm sure at a Christmas party at some point I'll be drinking and feel like having a cigarette - and I'm ok with that. I've had that happen enough times to know that usually one cures you!

L's D, congrats for keeping this up for so long. 11 weeks is a big deal. Here's to the next 11, and the next.

Big John, way to get over the 3-day hump! Good to know another forumite is joining L's D in kicking the habit.

Frank, kudos for tossing the rest of the pack. You've obviously reached the point where your mind is made up to quit, even if your body hasn't warmed up to the idea just yet. Keep on posting your progress here, if it helps. You've got at least 2 people here who are slaying the same beast. Keep at it, d00d. :thumb:

Right on! Thank you! If I would have smoked one this morning, I would have stopped on the way to work and bought another pack, so the only option was crushing and tossing them. So far, it's not been that difficult, and I'm very glad.

John, congrats on the three-day hump: After 72 hours, you've got the worst of it beat. :)
