Freshman Congressman (R-FL)Lt. Col. Allen West (US Army, Ret.) intends to join the Congressional Black Caucus.

This should be interesting. Will they prevent him joining because he's a Rethuglican? Will they allow him to join because of his race? Will the prevent him because he's a conservative? Can a "man of color" be a conservative and be "true to his heritage?"

Where's the popcorn?

Oh, yeah. Here....

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Will there be a Tea Party Caucus? We should encourage Nancy Pelosi should joint that caucus, too.

Now that would be a sight. Nancy walking into the caucus with a big ole' doobie, firing that bad boy up and getting teabagged.
Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments
and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism.

We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.

Update:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/44886.html

from the article

The Congressional Black Caucus says it will gladly accept the two newly elected black Republicans into its group, opening the door to partisan diversity in a caucus that has been historically Democratic.

"Membership in the Congressional Black Caucus has never been restricted to Democrats," CBC Chairwoman Barbara Lee said in a statement to POLITICO. "Should either of the two African-American Republicans recently elected to the House of Representatives request membership in the Congressional Black Caucus, they will be welcomed."

Rep Elect Tim Scott says "Thanks for the invite, but no, thanks."

Quote:

South Carolina Rep.-elect Tim Scott, the first black Republican from the South since Reconstruction, said Wednesday that he will not join the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).

"While I recognize the efforts of the CBC and appreciate their invitation for me to caucus with them, I will not be joining at this time," Scott said. "My campaign was never about race."

Members of the CBC said before the election that Scott, along with Florida Republican Rep.-elect Allen West, would both be welcomed into the caucus if they wanted to join. West has said he intends to become a member next year.

Scott and West are the first black Republican House members since J.C. Watts, who retired seven years ago and infamously decided not to join the CBC during his tenure.

As the only Republican in the caucus, West said last month that he intends to bring a "different voice" to what he called a "monolithic viewpoint" within the CBC.

West kicks serious ass. I really like him and hope he runs for POTUS, someday.

So the CBC members' campaigns were about race?
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Race and/or gender shouldn't even be a factor. It boils down to the simple question: Can you do the job or not?
