I think this has been posted here before, at least once.

That's OK, I hope it gets posted again.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Not to distract attention from the point of the post, but it's interesting that the poster of that thread on YouTube describes the protesters as 'muslims'.

Quote:

So why did the two fans decide to make a rush for the field and attempt to incinerate the flag? The father, a 37-year-old man named William Errol Thomas from Eldon, Missouri, explained that he had decided to stage a protest because his wife was being held illegally against her will in a mental institution. Aside from public ridicule, Thomas incurred minimal legal punishment for his actions. He was fined $60 for trespassing and placed on probation for a year. No formal charges were placed against his son, who was treated as a juvenile offender.

At this rate, one day everybody will indeed be a muslim.

This incident occured in 1976 so Black Muslim is as close as these offenders were likely to get.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

Kincaid pointed out to me that they weren't muslims -- weird how things get viewed through the lens of what concern us most....

No matter, what Monday did was still great, irrespective of why the guys were trying to burn a flag.

who thought they were muslims?

never even occured to me.

it was 1976 for crying out loud.

flag burning became an issue in the late 60's as an anit vietnam protest and then spilled over into wider usage, decades before any english speaker could pronounce al queida
