HOLY CARP!!!
|
So, my first career was as a magician. I used to be into all sorts of things to go along with my magic show: juggling, balloon sculpture and so forth. I always admired the glass jugglers/glass ball performers because of the amazing level of dexterity and amount of practice their skill required. Just saw this guy today and wanted to share: Japanese Street Performer |

Wow. That was amazing. I wonder if he practices on a mattress. |

"Fushigi" -- it's being rather heavily marketed these days in TV commercials.

Wow. I bet he's been doing that since he was a little kid. The effortlessness was striking. I've always liked that kind of thing. Michael Moschen is the "best" I'd seen before (here's a TED talk from him) but I think this guy combines natural ability like Moschen with practice from a very young age. Moschen used to be a pro golfer. It's all about fine motor control... the genetic ability behind the practice. |

Very enjoyable show, thanks for sharing. You ever seen Gatto juggle numbers? The man is unreal, sustaining a 7 (& briefly 9) cascade while bouncing a ball on his head. |

That was quite amazing. I've not seen the like before. |

KB - glad you posted this. I recently saw that video and was blown away, and I've seen glass ball performers before, but this guy just takes it to the next level! |

Andy - no, I haven't seen him - I'll have to check him out. I can't even imagine a 7 ball cascade while doing something else - that's ridiculous. Of course, 3 scarves was tricky for me!

Gatto is the Horowitz of the juggling world. Still there are more entertaining folk as shown by your video; and some things make you wonder just whos idea was that..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U10IWU_XDPk&feature=related Edited by AndyD, Aug 20 2010, 07:14 AM.

Ok Andy - you've made a believer out of me. Anthony Gatto When he moves to the rings, the pancake flip he's doing on them is ridiculous. Also, the precision of the apex of each throw is amazing to me. |

Nice clip KB. The man is in league with the devil I tell you, the accuracy of his throwing is unnatural. Only he would show off with three spinning clubs, and the ball throwing he started with was deceptively difficult, not simply the patterns, but going from one to the next in performance. That ending 5 ball half shower, 5 ball full shower, then multiplexing shower to end; then seven cascade, seven half shower, cascade again, and a controlled turn!!!!!! He could hold every world juggling record if he wanted, to the point when you can't count how many things he's throwing, but America has turned him into an entertainer. Funny thing is the balls he uses for numbers are really crap, discontinued years ago (when he bought up all the remaining stock), and even he has to paint them to make them usable. |

Yes and no, there's a lot of entertaining positives in his performances now. Whatever people feel about him, he's one of a handful who can make a living for his family from juggling as a circus act. |

Amazing. It's like piano: some people spend thousands of hours practicing, and astound the audience. Others still drop the ball after all that work. (thought "glass balls" in the thread title was going to be another thread about liberals...) |
