If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
That's just dumb. If they are going to demand abnormal private behavior of teachers they better start paying them one hell of a lot more money.

Wow. I'm wondering if someone complained to the school board or if the school board spies upon its teachers. The more I hear of puritan nit-picking in PA, the less I'd want to live there. People there can't even pee with the door closed it seems.

Stuff like this drives me nuts.

A home held bachelorette party with a stripper is a pretty tame, common thing in this day & age. I wonder, what if it were a bachelor party for the guys? Would this be as bad in the school board's eyes?

That all said, sheesh. Taking the pics, then posting them on FB? Teachers dumb enough to set no controls who sees their pics? Again who saw them? Who complained? Who's snooping?

These women don't have much common sense. Stupid immaturity. This leads me to wonder if these women are smart enough, have enough common sense to teach my kids?

I was different from other nurses. I always considered my job my career, and nothing else. I was vrey professional kept my job separate from my life. I wasn't at the hospital to make friends. I was there to help patients, to bring in my pay-check. I had my own social circles outside of work, thus never 'friend'ed' anyone from work.

Now if I were working today? Yeah, I'd still keep my lives separate. And yeah, I'd be discreet. If anyone from work went snooping for dirt re me & FB, I'd be right flipping furious. That's private. I set my controls. So this is none of my employer's business.

It was said back when; I think it applies now >> Keep your work life separate from your real life. Be discreet with all things. Trust few as friends because true friends are few.

Ms. D'Amico will receive more than $4,000 back pay that was lost, along with splitting a $10,000 payment with the ACLU. The other teachers continue to fight their disciplinary letters through arbitration

Thank you, taxpayers.

I know of one CEO in a small company (120 employees) who has his secretary tasked to check out his employee's face book pages everyday.

Even though a couple of people have already lost thir jobs over derogatory remarks about the company or their customers, people are still being idiots...

Ah, another postcard from my native Fayette County, Pennsylvania. A number of years back, an advertising campaign for tourism to the region adopted the slogan, "Where Wonders Never Cease." Of course, that statement could be taken two ways... ^_^

hey she made 10 grand off the school district thanks to the ACLU, which everyone hates, got her disciplinary letter cancelled and got her back pay from her suspension. sounds like she came out ahead!

She didn't make 10 grand from the school district, it comes from the pockets of the taxpayers of the district (however their funding is structured).

Boards act based on policies, it is not a kangaroo court. If a policy states something along the lines of "inappropriate behavior including but not limited to..." -- and, a group of angry parents show up at a board meeting demanding something be done, there may not have been a choice for the board (not enough info to tell). The grievance process takes hold, steps are followed based on policy as well as collective bargaining processes. ACLU gets involved? Board will usually cave.

For every ridiculous issue that hits the newspapers, there are others behind the scenes that noone hears about. These settlements can be huge, but over a certain amount is covered by insurance just so someone cannot wipe out a school district with a law suit.

Another topic for another time: try firing a lousy contract-status teacher. . . $$$

But those may be kangaroo policies to begin with.
