That girl needs to eat. This is not the role model for a healthy figure for girls or women. |

"That girl" may not aspire to be any role model for girls or women at all, and it would not be her fault should the masses or the media make her one. I defend her right and freedom to not eat as you want her to. ![]() I quite believe, in the actuarial sense, that a person this tall and this thin is likely to be unhealthy. But individuals vary. If she is healthy the way she is (for all we know, she may be perfectly healthy), then I would rather not pressure her to fatten up just to meet my aesthetic notion of what constitute a "healthy look."

So sorry, Ax. I should have indicated I was in Momma mode. I like how slim people think it's perfectly appropriate to say an overweight person should stop eating so much, but it's not OK to say an underweight person needs to eat more. Yes, an underweight person may have metabolism issues or some other issue, but so can an overweight person. Sorry, Ax, she does not look healthy to my Midwestern eyes. I just want to feed that poor girl. Yes, I am a mom. Regardless of whether she intends to be a role model, as soon as she is on the cover of a magazine or in the news, she becomes one in some womens'/girls' eyes. I see girls starve themselves in the midst of anorexia, and these pictures only fuel that flame. So sorry if you disagree with that, Ax. It's what I see too often in today's teens. It's not new either, I recall this stuff from my college days. One poor girl nearly died from starvation. She was in and out of the hospital. Sure, you can say the girls will do it regardless of the pics, but there is a link. We don't need to encourage it. |

Btw, Ax, here's what that gal needs: Chocolate Zucchini Cake 1/2 cup (1 stick, 4 ounces) butter 1/2 cup (3 1/2 ounces) vegetable oil 1 3/4 cups (12 1/4 ounces) granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 large eggs 1/2 cup (4 ounces) sour cream, buttermilk, or yogurt 2 1/2 cups (10 1/2 ounces) King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour 3/4 cup (2 1/4 ounce) Dutch-process cocoa 2 teaspoons espresso powder, optional but tasty 2 cups shredded zucchini (about one 10" zucchini, about 12 ounces) 1/2 cup (3 ounces) chocolate chips 1 cup (6 ounces) chocolate chips, for icing Preheat the oven to 325°F. Lighlty grease a 9" x 13" pan. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, oil, sugar, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Beat in the eggs. Stir in the sour cream, buttermilk, or yogurt alternately with the flour. Then add the cocoa and espresso powder, mixing till smooth. Finally, fold in the zucchini and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan. Bake the cake for 30 to 35 minutes, till the top springs back lightly when touched, and it seems set. Slide the cake out of the oven, sprinkle it evenly with the 1 cup chocolate chips, and return it to the oven for 5 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove the cake from the oven, and use a cake spatula or rubber spatula to spread the chocolate chips into a smooth glaze. Cool on a rack. |

She'll make for an amazing clothes hanger. Truly. Because this IS what she is. Because this is about making a designer's clothes look good, desirable, and nothing else. I no longer pay too much attention to these gals. Yes, they are unhealthy. They are the ultimate freaks of femininity. They have never been role models. They are robed models .. for fashion, for the creativity of designers' art, for fabric, for tailoring, for high couture. No one here should ever think designers design for average sized females above size 8. They can't see outside their fish bowls long enough to think of average heights, curves, proportions. We ARE all too different as individuals. They require a standard length stick to compete with each other in their world of design. And they create for sample size 0 proportions because average sized (& well heeled) women would never buy such clothing if they saw the realities of such increased yardage modelled in fashion magazines. We've been effectively brainwashed to want to be those sticks, sucked into designers' drama, their fantasy of "fashion". And for most, we make do with ready-to-wear, the knock-offs of high design. It's about 'art' ya know. Color me cynical .... |

Hmmm. I don't find her particularly feminine at all. And to D'Oh, feeding her that way would probably just give her a pot belly!

Uh uh, nope, sorry. In some cases the "I am naturally thin/I have a fast metabolism" argument applies, but look at her. There is no way that that is healthy. |

Note: All runway fashions are designed in size 6, tall. You wanna be a model? Fit the dress or go home. That's the way it is. |
