Just read the entries. Interesting! I donīt know that I could get myself to travel on Greyhound voluntarily, but more power to him. ^_^

I know that gross film of who-knows-what of which he talks. After a bus ride in this country (not the in-city, but the cross-country buses) I feel like burning my clothing and scrubbing my head. At the very least, washing my hands really well. Of course, thereīs never any soap.

Opti, as a side note, Mike is the guy who I first talked to when I began sensing my call to the ministry. He's also the one who introduced me to MdL, and led my first trip there. It was when he left here for his Tennessee call that I started organizing the trips from our church down there, and filled his seat on the Board. He's a good guy, and a good writer, too. I'm looking forward to reading about his experiences.

And yeah, I've had some experience with that film he talks about, too. ^_^

He sounds like a really great friend, then! Looking forward to seeing if the book works out. I bet this would also be an interesting article to propose to National Geographic.

Dewey, does MdL ever have any contact or shared work with PC Volunteers?

I think that they had a PC group there at least once to my knowledge, but I don't really know any of the details. I can dig around some for you & find out. Certainly if not MdL, they've undoubtedly been in Nuevo Paraiso and Nueva Esparanza, the two small adjacent villages.

On a side note, kenny has been missing - it looks like maybe Mike found him:

Breezewood, Pennsylvania:

"...At the beginning of the ride, Shedrick [the bus driver], upon realizing that the PA was broken (not the first bus that's had that problem), walked toward the middle of the bus for his "no smoking, no drinking, no profanity speech. "For the next few hours, why don't you make some new friends?", he encouraged us. "I'M MIKE", I blurted out at the top of my lungs. "Mike, we're not in an A.A. meeting", he said, shaking his head as we went back up to fire up the bus."

Yes, this is the Mike Pentecost I've come to know and love... ^_^

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
Reminds me of my Dad. He volunteered for years as a manager at the homeless shelter run by St Vincent De Paul, and loved talking to the residents and writing down their stories.
The dogma lives loudly within me.
