There is a bunch of free stuff that you can download from iTunes store, e-books, iPhone apps, etc. But even if you only want the free stuff, you have to verify credit card payment info anyway. The stuff you want to download is free, there is no reason to mess with any credit card info. Heck, the more you retype and transmit credit info back and forth between the iTunes store and your devices, the more you increase the risk of ID theft. Not to mention adding another point of failure, like when I tried to download a free app this morning and got stuck because "credit card processing is unavailable at this time." Why Apple, Inc. chooses to do something cumbersome and risky and, at the end, completely pointless like this, I'll probably never know. |

Yes. They must think they have a good reason because they must have received a ton of complaints about it. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

Best way to handle iTunes (and eBay too) is to open a PayPal account tied to a throwaway checking account at a bank other than the one you normally do business with. Put a $hundy in it and refill it when you need to. |

It's because they want to make it more likely that you'll end up buying from them when the time comes. Buying something over the internet involves two main decisions that people are resistant to - one, giving their personal and credit card info, and two, parting with their money. If Apple can get that first decision out of the way beforehand, without being encumbered by the second decision, then the second decision is more likely to be made down the road, since it won't be encumbered by the first decision. |
| As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good? | |
