The ridge is up high and you can see for miles. There were some rumblings from the clouds, but luckily it blew over without anything scary. Though we did have a deer bolt out across the trail in front of us, as well as a mountain bike. Rico was more afraid of the bike than he was of the deer.

The academy buildings are off in the distance:

The trail is wide and its good for going fast.

This is Blodgett peak - there is a WWII plane crash up there that you can hike to - a C-47. Mr. Jodi hiked up to it the last time we lived here, and in the right light, you can see the wreckage glinting in the sun.

You can ride your horse for miles up into the hills behind me. Rico really likes going out on these trails!

What fun! I miss riding.

(but not the work and particularly the expense!)

Rico looks like a good guy. He looks pretty calm in that pic with you. Warmblood, right? Is he OK on the trail?

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

I had to look that one up. I was pretty sure you weren't asking whether or not the beast was a reptile!

He likes the trail. He was nervous the first couple of times, but he's getting pretty good at it. He's a 1/2 lusitano (1/4 TB, 1/8 QH, 1/8 WB)

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
High desert is fun to ride in. Looks a lot like Montana.

My happiest moments with Simon were when we'd leave the barn and head out into the subdivisions in the area. He was so good - nothing bothered him, not trucks, motorcycles, bicycles - nothing. You can see the barn in the lower right hand side (sand arena just to the right of the parked semi-trailers), and the subdivision on the upper left:

Of course all the freaky-deaky hunter/jumper ladies were amazed that I'd take my horse off the property.

Nothing like a horse with a good head, and one that trusts you.
