HOLY CARP!!!
It's called Louisiana Fried Chicken, but don't let the name fool you. They not only serve juicy fried goodness for lunch and dinner and late night snacks, they're also open for breakfast, because they're a hybrid fried chicken and DONUT shop.

I assume the fried chicken recipe was passed down through generations of the owner's family back in Louisiana Korea. It's pretty good.

The KFC down the street closed several months ago. After sitting empty for a few weeks, activity began, including new paint on the exterior -- purple and orange. I googled for ideas, what company uses purple and orange? Dunkin' Donuts! Wow, I have never been to one! I checked out their menu online, their coffees, and noticed the progress when I drove by.
Then I found out the local burrito place was moving in -- gutted -- their food stinks.

I had to eat lunch at a KFC Tuesday.. had no time to go anywhere else. It was disgusting. Popeye's forever.

How is Popeye's different from KFC? It's all greasy chicken, isn't it?
I've never been to a Popeye's.

I do like Chick-fil-A.

It's different. Less greasy and salty. Better, healthier sides.

No ... KFC tops Popeye's.
You have "grilled" options for chicken, not just fried.
KFC's original fried chicken is a lot more flavorful, more nuanced, while Popeye's just tastes like grease most of the time.
And the KFC coleslaw is hard to beat.
KFC is usually combined with Taco Bell, which gives you more choices (e.g., "taco salad" is you really want to eat greener).

To each his own. KFC does remind me more of Chinese style fried chicken. Denser meat. I think Popeye's has more real chicken flavor.

Taco salad is not what one would call a healthy choice. 660-910 calories, 50% fat, 1500-1700 mg sodium.

Not that Popeye's is any paragon of nutrition, mind you... :lol2:

(But... red beans and rice > coleslaw)

ZOOOOOM!
A couple of weeks ago, two of my roommates and I were coming back from the metro and realised we hadn't eaten anything for the later half of the day. We stopped in at Popeye's, thinking we'd get like an 8-piece combo thing and leave it at that. But oh hey, the ten-piece is ONLY a couple dollars more, and how much would a side be? Huh, that's not bad at all, actually. Seems like you get more for your money if you make the order large enough. How much is a soda?

We ended up getting 27 freaking pieces of chicken, six sides and TWO JUGS of ridiculously sweet tea.

Epic eats, that night. I'm surprised our arteries didn't just pack up and leave.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

They did clog up, they just didn't leave. But I do know what you mean - their menu is very well marketed.

Didja get their ambrosia, food of the gods red beans and rice?

Fast food chain restaurant chicken comes from El Pollo Loco.

Nothing else is even close.

A thousand times yes. Best chicken I've ever tasted.
