Excellent article. Reminds me of when some of the Republicans swept into office in 1994. Some of them declared they believed in term limits. Some of them professed the need for integrity. If they had not done so, they might not have been elected. Then, before their transformational work was done, they took themselves out because their self-imposed term limits expired (or maybe the voters took them out when they went back on their word). Others got involved in one personal scandal or another, and took themselves out by resignation. Again, before their transformational work was done. [Edit: I should add that most of the rest of the class of '94 didn't do the transformational heavy lifting required, but instead became transformed themselves into the ruling class.] I feel that there is a need for a new political party or parties. I really don't expect the Republicans, when they regain power, to do what is needed for the sake of the country. Edited by Kincaid, Jul 28 2010, 11:59 AM.

It's a worthwhile read. I don't know if the Ruling Class will allow a third party... |

It' maybe not so much a question of whether they'll allow it, but how quickly the party would become assimilated into the ruling class and/or take over from another party. Take a look at the history of the British Labour Party - it's quite an interesting story. |
