HOLY CARP!!!
Guys,

I need a new vacuum cleaner, and I think I want one with a dirt bag this time (as I decided that I do not enjoy cleaning the dirt filters for the bagless ones).

Any recommendation?

Asking for dirt bag recommendations here is lofting a slow fat one over the plate.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

I have the Kenmore Progressive - it uses bags. I couldn't find it on the Sears website, but this link has a model that uses bags.

Dyson. Best vacuum evah for people with dogs.

I've had one for about four or five years and it picks up more stuff than any other I've owned, canister, upright, bags or bagless.

Ax, I'd suggest going to the Gardenweb Home Forum boards for discussions on various models you might be considering.

Eureka Boss - cost about $120-140. A Consumer Reports best buy pick. Our has worked great for six years now. Most vacuums have the attachments and hose all right on the vacuum, as does the Boss, which is something I love over our Riccar vacuum (going strong at age 22 or so).

Update:

Between intrinsic laziness and nerdiness and just plain cheap, I got this:

http://store.irobot.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3143269&cp=2174930&s=A-UnitRank-IRBT&parentPage=family

Have used it a few times on carpet (twisted & loop pile) and smooth surface (wood laminate and concrete) floors. I like it enough that, should this one break after some reasonable amount of time, I think I'm likely to get another similar or better model. :)
