HOLY CARP!!!
Just in case you haven't seen the 12-year-old boy's cover of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" for his 6th grade festival, vid below. Ellen DeGeneres flew Greyson out for an appearance on her show today, during which he spoke with an encouraging Lady Gaga. How cool for that kid!

On Ellen:

Greyson posted a couple of songs he wrote as well.

yeah, no kidding. The kid is good, I like how he sings, but yuck, I can see the Disney people getting a hold of him and making him the next cutesy product.

Hopefully he'll say no, stay in school, keep working on his music and just have some fun with it while he's still a kid.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ellen already has him under contract.

I also thought of the "I wonder who is going to sign him first?", and then thought "Why was that one of my first reactions?"

Natural reaction, I guess. He has quite the stage presence and certainly has the talent to go far. Maybe he'll be the next Ben Folds or Elton John...and we'll look back on this video, like we do on the Tiger Woods video when he was 5 years old on TV showing off his prodigious swing. Seems like a great kid...wish him the best. Oh he has the "one name" marketing campaign in his pocket. Greyson. Cool name!

because that's what we do now. kid 'stars' bring in the big bucks.

I think it's too bad we can't just say "what a great kid, lots of talent there, be interesting to see what he does when he grows up", instead of cranking out the insta-star machine.

Nah ... I hope he'll milk it for all it's worth, then he can do whatever he likes later in life.

Between Option A of "living life as a normal kid, then worry about college tuition, then work as a salary man the rest of your life" and Option B of "milking a few times many people's life time earnings by being a child star for a few childhood years, then do whatever the heck you like the rest of your life with no financial worries," Option B is the better deal.

Childhood is overrated. :D

I cite irreconcilable differences.
