A most unusual design being proposed for Edgar Street, downtown. My first reaction to it's base is 'grotesque'. On the other hand, it looks like an amazing piece of engineering.

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
Sort of Calatrava structuralism. Nice addition to the skyline.

It's pretty, but is it functional? All that sloped glazing is an open invitation to water ingress. I like sculpture; I like buildings that work even better.

Don't worry your pretty little head over that, Al. The main thing is that it looks green and will be awarded a LEEDS. Now just move along.

what is environmentally modulated skin. I love it, but don't like how it stands out. I'd prefer a less brazen color.. perhaps a staid tan or copper.

check out our (KC's) new Kauffman Center for the performing arts. it's gorgeous

note how the Jewish community funds most of the big art projects here. (not being snarky.. I'm grateful for all wonderful things given to our community)
it behooves me to behold

I like things that work. Other considerations are secondary. Here's a local example:

Posted Image

The New Hazlett Theater (inside the old Northside Carnegie Music Hall) - original home of the Pittsburgh Public Theater

Posted Image

The O'Reilly Theater (Downtown Pittsburgh) - present home of the Pittsburgh Public Theater

Guess which one I believe works better.

Overall I like it apple, and the setting is lovely. The lobby area looks like it will be fantastic. Appears to be a bit bulky in places, but that's of ill import if the accoustics and audience experience are right. I have been swept off my feet by architecture from the outside only to be quite disappointed by the subjective experience inside. I'd love to hear how it turns out.

I'll be honest, big Al... I'm not keen on either one of them because in a formal setting I love a proscenium. Informal, that's a different matter.
