I know a few people who'll be on suicide watch now. A few others who'll think all of England's troubles are behind them. Personally, I think it's a shame Plaid Cymru didn't do better. As an Englishman, I'd have voted for them. |

Hey, if Plaid Cymru had done just a little better, Cameron could have done a deal just with them! Welsh independence would be just down the street a bit. |

I bet Cameron must be thinking 'what the hell did I do'? And Clegg - not sure what he's going to get out of this other than association with a government that's going to have to make some really unpopular decisions. |

All Cameron has to do to guarantee a permanent Conservative majority is to give Scotland and Wales their independence. The point at which an independent Scotland turned off the oil supply would be particularly amusing. |

I just can't see this alliance lasting. Ideologically, they seem too different. Most of the Liberals (I still don't like the term Lib-Dem) I've known really dislike the Conservative Party. The idea that the Conservatives could allow the adoption of proportional representation also seems very unlikely. |

They won't turn it off. They'll make more cash selling it and collecting all the revenues for Scotland. Wonder how much that would remove from the UK yearly revenues - do you know how much NSea oil contributes? Edited by 1hp, May 11 2010, 12:37 PM.

The UK has been a net importer of oil since 2006. As far as revenue equivalent of what they produce, figure ~1.6MM bpd, @ 80 is around $46B. |

You're spoiling my racially stereotypical vision of groups of dour old Scotsmen rather like Frasier from Dad's Army sitting in a little Nissan hut cackling about the sassenachs freezing to death on a braw brich moonlich nich the noo! ![]() |
