Do you ever enter contests or sweepstakes?

If so, what, if anything have you won?

Never.

I used to know a guy who worked in direct marketing and mailing lists.
He said contests and sweepstakes make many times the prize money by renting your personal info out.

Never any more. Used to when I was in college until I figured it was a ridiculous waste of time. I bet lottery odds are better and you just buy a ticket and don't have to jump thru hoops.

Never one anything. The only thing I can think of that even comes close is when my brother called in to a radio show and won a bunch of free beef for the family. That was a God send.

I worked for a company straight out of college - a very immmoral company. One year we hosted a bunch of prize drawings. Most of the people that came in were poor truck drivers, hoping to win a TV or a walkman radio (remember those?). Afterward, us peons heard the branch manager was just going to give the prizes to his biggest customers (managers and owners of the trucking companies that rented trailers from us). We groused about it so much that he announced he was just taking the prizes back for a refund. (Probably a lie). Anyway, the entire thing was a total scam.

I don't even fill out cards for free giveaways at car/home shows any more. Not worth the hassle of getting called by people trying to sell me things.

Oh, about every couple of weeks I hear (from a woman/girl with the most annoying nasal voice) that my name has been drawn to win some cruise out of Florida. If only I would phone that number.

According to Miss Nasal Voice, some 'friend or relative entered my name in a draw.' Oh really, eh.

To answer your question, I don't enter contests very often. Only if it's a company I already know and deal with, and the prize is something I really want. So, rarely. And no, I haven't won anything.

I don't really. My uncle has won a lot of drawings...he says the secret is folding the entry in a way that makes it susceptible to being picked. Like fold it like an accordion, or origami if you can, ha!
