I guess the media don't love him any more. If it is true that the White House is now less transparent to the media, then I can't say I blame the media for their complains.

As far as Obama's campaign claims are concerned regarding change, openness etc. for some reason the phrase 'full of sh!t' springs instantly to mind.

He's exactly the kind of politician that led to me being as cynical as I am.

Don't worry. Chris 'Tingles' Matthews is still down on him.

From the pedestal they put him on he had no where to go but down.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Pretty much all politicians would jump at the chance of being put on a pedestal - to actually get up there requires some help.

Yeah, John makes a point. The media helped Obama to an extent unprecedented in recent history.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

The British are rumored to appreciate subtlety. Nothing to it, I suppose.

+1. I blame his campaign rhetoric more than I do the media.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

d00d. I live near DC. There were jackasses on every other street corner shaking people's shoulders, shouting hopechange platitudes into their ears.

I'm not sure how I made it through the year without assaulting anybody.

Show me a politician running for office who doesn't. It's part of the game and seemingly necessary to win.

It's that simple, really.

It's every politician's responsibility to try to place himself or herself on that pedestal. It's not the media's responsibility to build the pedestal even higher, and then rent a cherry picker to get them up there, as they've done with him.

I wouldn't worry too much, though. Even for the few notches he's fallen in the media's eyes, they still love him - kind of like a wife who still loves her husband even if he does leave the seat up and won't pick up his dirty clothes.

Sadly, that's how they actually think.
