An invasion....

I took all these photos during my supper break this evening just before sunset a block away from the office. They're all taken around 23rd & Broadway. Everyone one of these is different...

I also snapped these two... the first because it's such a beautiful building, and the 2nd because it always looks like it's going to fall over....

I saw those on TV a couple of weeks ago:

It's the same piece, the artist's body, the vid shows a bit of the casting process.

HOLY CARP!!!
I don't like the, "Oh No! somebody's about to jump" reaction that many visitors will have.

How rude to shock people like that.

People with friends or family members who have taken their lives by jumping should not be made to recall this...not to mention the many jumpers from the WTC right there in Manhattan during 9-11.

I'm very surprised this was approved, especially in NYC. :tsktsk:

That was right across from my office on Park Ave and 24th, in fact I could see that very sculpture from my desk.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

HOLY CARP!!!
Guy standing on the edge of a building in NYC... reminds me of Spiderman.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

- Cecil Lewis
