This isn't surprising. Paulson talks about how they couldn't design a modification program to work well. As someone in Treasury put it, too many people aren't just in the wrong mortgage, they're in the wrong house. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/15/business/15mortgages.html?hp |

One thing I'd require would be for loan modification seekers to get out from under their car loans. Sell the car, buy something older so you have no payment. |
