We have an entryway light that is operated by a photosensor - when it gets dark, the light comes on. A CFL doesn't last three days in that fixture. :shrug:
Change the sensor - it's old-skool. Put in one that is rated for use with CFLs.

The money you save in electricity (particularly at SDG&E rates) will more than pay for the new sensor in a few months.
