Had a great time. Consumed some potent potables, and ate some sausages, rashers, and pudding.

Went to this game, as well as some hurling and Gaelic football.

Will post pics once I get them on the 'puter.
Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

welcome back, Phlebas!
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

A handful of folks threw their toys out of the pram and left. Including a couple of people you might miss.

Yeah, sucks for us.

Maybe we could trade you for George or Quirt in some sort of prisoner swap.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I had a few Guinness, and they're great over there.
Drank a lot of tea, too.

Where in Ireland were you again?
My daughter, and I went - wife didn't want to go, but wanted to send daughter for her break from school.
We spent 2 nights in Dublin, and the rest of the time in Meath - north of Dublin - where daughter has lots of cousins. Lots to do in that area - Hill of Tara, Newgrange, etc.
Took some day trips, too.

The game was between two rival Dublin clubs - a south side club, and sort of north side one - who hate each other.

The stands only hold about 6000 people, but there were still helicopters, police on horses, police at the train stations, etc. doing crowd control to keep the rival supporters apart. It wasn't exactly West Ham vs. Millwall, but it was something to experience.

You just don't get that kind of electric atmosphere in any sport in the US - for better or worse.

Except, perhaps, in Congress. ;)
