Cheers
So next month will be Rachel's first mothers day.

I know its early, but I'm soliciting ideas.

What should I get her?
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Diamonds.
No Hobart???

Or are Hobarts customary at the five year mark?
Let us begin anew, remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness.

'The Hobart' did not arrive here until almost 25 years of marriage. YMMV :lol2:

Find a good caterer, have a meal prepared and served to you and she, in your own home. Buy her and you new P J's and robes (how sexy is up to you) you and she wear them while being served this special dinner. I have no thoughts on what to do for the rest of the evening. :smokin:

Hmmm. I don't think I'd set too high a precedent. Mother's Day (one of those Hallmark manufactured card holidays) is really for kids to honor mothers. She's not *your* mother, right? Granted , little kids need a little help, and Baby Jon is not quite up to the task. That said, my favorite mother's day gifts have been cards and little doodads the kids made, often with the help of daycare providers or teachers. I've saved a whole boxful of them. Unless Rachel is the type that expects things on holidays, I'd play this one down.

OK, I've thought some more about it.

A Hobart mixer (your choice of size, I can help you with this, Jon) with a box in the mixing bowl. The box contains a lovely jewelry item featuring DIAMONDS, lots of diamonds, including some big ones.

Many thanks to Johanna and KathyK for helping me rethink this. :lol2:

I like the dinner idea. A nice dinner (cooked by you) and a big bunch of flowers. A 'thank you' card, from you, thanking her for being such a wonderful mother to your son.

Slip something with diamonds inside that card, and then you've got a winner. :thumb:

Jon, I'm sure she''l be thrilled with whatever you decide.

Just don't be like my uncle. Before their 25th anniversary, he asked his wife what she would like. She said, "Oh, nothing." Every time he asked, she said the same thing. So he got her nothing. He said she gave him he!! for it.

Uncle told this to a whole table full of relatives at a family gathering, and it caused quite an awkward moment. I told him, "If after 25 years you didn't know any better, you deserved it!"

Everyone laughed, including my uncle, and the party resumed. His wife loves me. :lol2:
