HOLY CARP!!!
Trader Joe's has a new addition to their line up of Charles Shaw wines.

It is from Australia and is delightful.
It is another steal for $1.99 a bottle. ($2.99 in some states)

It is a little grassy and earthy.
Frankly, it reminds me of the home-made wines I enjoyed when visiting homes of friends in The Azores, Portugal.

Didn't know they had a new one. Will have to check it out, though we usually drink the Merlot.

Tried the Australian Chardonnay when that showed up (last year?) and prefer the California version.

I'm not an oenophile, though.....my tastes are pretty plebeian...

The guys who make the big bucks Chardonnays thought that too, until...

Whoa!

How in the frick could a $1.99 bottle of Chardonnay wine compete with ALL california Chardonnays and win top prize in a blind test by wine experts?
Some cost in the hundreds of dollars. :hair:

That must have been soooooooo embarassing for all those fancy wines that cost $4 and $5, not to mention the ones that cost $10.

You Californians keep the wine world off balance.

Ever seen Bottle Shock?

It's the story of the 1976 blind tasting in France that has come to be known as the Judgment of Paris.

The French snobs were pretty upset.

Good movie, BTW, especially if you like Alan Rickman.

That's insane. 2 bucks for a 2008 Australian Shiraz. That's the kind of wine that I regularly drink. My favourite cheapos are 13 to 14. Probably very similar to what you have.

Sheesh.

Colour me green.

Sue, does it improve with age?
Should I put a case in my basement?
Oh wait that would be $23.88 a case - that's a lot of money. . . :leaving:

I doubt it would improve much with age, probably meant to be consumed tout de suite. I assume screw cap?

But I'd put a case in my basement anyways. It wouldn't last long enough for any aging concerns. :hat:

MS and I enjoyed that movie. It was fun to see Dennis Farina where he wasn't playing a heavy.

Glad you liked it.

You probably liked the scenes where the father and son kept beating the carp out of each other because they reminded you of TNCR in better days...
