South Carolina i know you shouldn't laugh at people.. but something just made me remember about ones such as her there, in that video. Edited by apple, Apr 8 2010, 12:21 PM.

Oh man! She was flailing. I bet afterwards she was bummed out. The good news is that she has a bright future as a politician!

She's a contestant on the Amazing Race this season, and from what I can tell is a pretty sweet person. I also wouldn't be too quick to judge someone answering a question in front of a billion people, when her mind probably went to mush. Heck, I remember getting nervous before talking in front of my high school class, and I'm not even afraid of public speaking! |

It is pretty tough to be yourself these days without fear of ridicule. Even small stumbles are memorialized for eternity. Glad you said something, 89. Good thing to keep in mind. |

Don't get me wrong, this was certainly my reaction when I saw that (and also perhaps John D'Oh's new avatar?)

That was more than a small stumble; more like a dive from a cliff. That clip went totally viral, and for good reason. It was ridiculously funny. Granted, I could completely imagine myself getting as tongue tied, under similar circumstances. But, then I know my weaknesses, and I never in a million years would put myself in that type of situation. I just don't do well when I'm in the spotlight. For that reason, I quickly learned that I would never make a good trial lawyer or solo concert pianist. Adrenelin is a performance enhancer for some people in pressure situations; for me it's a brain scrambler. Holy moly, if you're going to be competing in national pagents, or running for national offices or doing anything else that is going to put you in the limelight, you darn well better be prepared to think and act on your feet. She may be the nicest person in the world, but that was a major fail. |

ZOOOOOM!

It also wasn't just a case of her getting tongue-tied. Her response was the most ridiculous thing I've likely ever heard on television. If she were given a chance to go back and on her own time, reframe her answer so that it was articulate and well-spoken, it'd still be stupid. It was just as much a content fail as it was a delivery fail. |

Oh man! I just about break out in a sweat watching that. I feel soooo embarrassed for her and I'd probably be just as tongue tied in that situation. Like Kathy I'd never put myself out there like that. You gotta admit though, her being a blond bombshell in a beauty contest makes this just the ultimate comedy. Imagine getting famous for that! Poor thing.

i think is one of my favorite videos. I know a girl just like that.. just a doll with long blond hair.... we were talking and she said in her little girl voice.. "Mary you would look awsome in a long blond wig!" i just burst out laughing.. she was so hurt. |
