Assassination is an ugly subject, but so are beheadings. I remember watching them on youtube. I can post them here if anyone wants to be reminded that the victims weren't imaginary.

A few short years ago, it was UN-AMERICAN to oppose the Administration. Now it's UN-AMERICAN to support it.

In the meantime, there are kids like this guy from Idaho who would probably freak out if he found out that America has now gone soft on hunting down his captors.

How difficult that must be to watch if you're part of his family or friends. It's an odd sounding plea ("release me!"), and I assume he's talking to the government? Usually such a plea would be given to those holding him prisoner, but either way...this is the MO for terrorists. And yes I do remember watching the Nick Berg (beheading) video from a couple years ago. Easily the worst thing I've ever seen online.

I am still unable to locate these people you claim were in support of Bush war policies but now oppose Obama doing the same thing. Are you just pulling this out of the air?

I don't recall Bush authorizing the assassination of American citizens.

Oh yeah. He didn't do that.

I don't think the situation ever presented itself. He did, however, have the opportunity to try an American citizen before a nilitary commission and the left screamed bloody murder over that.

Could be the situation never arose. Still, the shameless hypocrisy of the left is stunning.

It would seem that they have found the best way to avoid the whole detention/trial brouhaha is to make sure they never make it that far.

look on these forums you goof!!!

The people who once called dissent treason are now borrowing threads from DANIEL!!!!

Do you have to wait for someone on high to say something before you believe that it's happening? Life unfolds before your very eyes. You don't have to tune into a pundit to find out if it's really happening.

As is usually the case, TNCR scoops a story-in-the-making long before the pundits put their spin on it.

Tell me who on this forum supported Bush's war policies and is now criticizing Obama for doing the same thing. It is not enough to call me names and insult my intelligence. Tell me who. I see plenty of people attacking Obama and others for their hypocrisy but none that I have seeen have said Obama should not be doing these things.

Personally I find that shameless hypocrisy from either the right or the left is neither stunning, nor even very surprising. Neither is the fact that neither side appears capable of recognizing their own guys pulling this bullsh!t.

The Bush administration - fearless defender of individual rights? The only individual rights the right wing of the GOP cares about is their own. Same thing goes for the bloody so-called-liberal Democrats.

Big John, I also suggest you back up your claim (per JBryan's request) or offer a redaction of such claims if you can't back it up.

I know it makes you feel all even handed and sh!t to always say they all do it but on this issue that is not what we are seeing here. Obama ran on a platform of undoing all the evil practices of the Bush years to the adulation of all of his supporters in the media and elsewhere and many months into his term he is doing all of these things he and his supporters denounced. While we hear crickets chirping on the left, from more conservative quarters we hear support for what he is doing along with marvelling at the jaw-dropping hypocrisy of it all. Now, unless you are prepared to offer some examples in your defense then I would suggest you drop your knee-jerk 'they all do it" on this particular issue.

Also, I should add that, despite protestations from BJ to the contrary, the people on this board on both sides have been fairly consistent with their support or condemnation no matter who is doing it.

The fact that I think all politicians are assholes isn't a thought I'm going away from anytime soon.

Bush campaigned on a policy of getting rid of partisan politics and unity, as well as of America staying out of foreign conflicts.

Huh. And did anything happen early on in his presidency that changed that?

Think hard.

I carry no brief for the saintliness of politicians on either side so you can drop that canard.

The world changes. I'm sure Obama can give lots of reasons for not doing what he promised too.

I hate to be complimentary, but you're a lot less partisan than most people here.

And I'm not carrying a duck - it's a growth.
