I've no idea what an earthquake feels like ...

Heh. I only just realized the earthquake stopped our grandfather clock. I hadn't paid attention to the time it stopped: 3:41pm.

Well, I'm just glad your grandfather clock is still vertical instead of horizontal.

If ya'll don't mind my asking, why do you stay there? I mean, everything west of the San Andreas is just about ready to fall into the ocean any time now...
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I think the California state and city governments are doing much more to drive peopleout of/keep people from moving into California, than any thoughts of earthquakes.

I'll take earthquakes over tornadoes and hurricanes any day of the week.

I felt a rumble once when I lived in Berkeley, otherwise was lucky.

Geologically and weather wise, this is the most placid place I've lived. Sunshine, warm temps all year. We get some brief spouts of heavy rain and wind in August.

Just felt another pretty good shake - short duration though. Wonder if these are still aftershocks?

[edit: 100 miles east of San Diego - 5.5 magnitude - this one was deep, 31km down]

Check out this map showing earthquake activity for the last week. The large yellow square was the 7.2 on Sunday.
