HOLY CARP!!!

did anyone else watch Jamie's American version of his 'Food Revolution'? I caught the first two episodes last night. I wondered how it would fare compared to his original show, not sure the concept would really work in a different country. That turned out to be accurate, as he sure was met with hostile resentment. I wonder if it was someone else, an American, would people have been interested in hearing what he had to say? Really shocking was the head lunch lady at the elementary school. Absolute denial. It's one thing to be hesitant about changing the school's menu, thinking the kids will never eat 'healthy' food (which was the UK reaction), but to steadfastly insist that chicken nuggets, fake mashed potatoes etc. are perfectly good foods......wow. That's a whole new level of serious nutrition issues. |

I can only wish Jamie Oliver good luck. He will probably be treated as though he is trying to take away their guns. |

HOLY CARP!!!

I just watched the last two episodes, still need to watch the first one online. Wow. The resistance, the younger kids not knowing what a tomato or potato is, etc. And how shocking when he ground up the leftover chicken carcass into mush, threw in some stabilizers and flavor additives and fried it up in nugget shape, the kids went from totally grossed out to wanting to eat it in the familiar nugget shape. But what a great group of high school students he has. I'm amazed they went from no cooking experience to prepping and cooking a meal for 80 people. That's motivation. http://abc.go.com/shows/jamie-olivers-food-revolution |

Rats, I missed the high school episode. That was Friday night, when our power went. Oh well, hopefully there will be repeats. |

HOLY CARP!!!

My wife can't stand the healthy, blah food they make at the cafeteria at her school. A lot of it goes to waste. The kids just don't like it. Maybe better than going to waist? |
