$5,400,000.00 For Crystal Stemware

Edit, originally the article had a typo saying $54 Million. It's been corrected to $5.4 Million. That's much more reasonable.

Yes, our tax dollars at work, but not with an American manufacturer.

THAT is ridiculous.
Any more ridiculous than the three $15,000 coffee machines thay have at the DC NASA facility? A friend of mine has the maintenance contracts on them.

Yes, our tax dollars at work, but not with an American manufacturer.
If the interior design firm responsible for arranging the purchase is like most design firms, it charges a percentage of the order as fee. So I wonder if it went for the Swedish manufacturer because it would be a more expensive purchase than going with an American manufacturer.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!
