HOLY CARP!!!
Hopes resurfaced!

I just sent my resume to the Leonard School of Music in North Charleston, SC. It's about 13 minutes from downtown. They need a p/t receptionist. After seeing my degree, maybe they could use an extra piano teacher....

I'm also going to apply in person for a f/t veterinary receptionist when we get there (hope they'll stull have it open).

I'm also going to tour my friend's apartment, because it's in the same building as one of the ones I was considering. Good rent, right in the middle of Charleston.

Things might be shaping up here. :)

Uh, a potential employer wanting to know your credit score? <_< I don't think so.

File that one in the circular bin. Good for you for checking them out.

That's quite legit and even prevalent in employment practices these days. Most places won't hire somebody without checking their credit these days.
Most places?

I haven't worked in HR so I don't know if it's common across industries and job levels.
