I think I had a lot more fun in our messy room with toys that were actually played with.

I'd love to know the reality of that life. I hope he's not an insufferable, self-involved, spoiled kid with OCD who secretly hides his hatred of his parents.

No. I will choose to believe he's gifted, curious and sensitive and is someday going to be a leader of a new tomorrow.

Now I feel better.

Child abuse! Watching a CRT. The Philistine parents are obviously unaware of LCD. Where's Child Protection Services when you need them?

I am much more concerned about the mental health of the parents who make the kid keep his toy cars in the original mint condition box and systematically catalog his DVD collection.

Unless he does it himself. Then again, does OCD come about by nature or nurture?

My boys have a lot of leeway in the decor of their rooms.

I use the word "decor" liberally to include such touches as a life-sized cutout of your best friend, colored by hand and thumb-tacked to the blue wall.

I want to go in there and mess up the spines of those books and DVDs. I find that frighteningly anal, and that's coming from someone who gets paid to do stuff like that.

I wonder what poor sod has to dust all those tacky nick nacky things.

Go mess up your room, kid!! :hat:

Yeah, no kid's room is going to stay looking like that unless they have a mother (or father) who has nothing better to do than to constantly sort and dust the kid's collections (never mind, picking up the kid's dirty socks, underwear and assorted detritus on a regular basis) or as someone else pointed out here, the kid as a DSM confirmed mental illness.

After three kids, I'm wondering what the point of even fixing up a kid's room is, since they are rarely presentable.

No kidding! And here I am, possibly being forced to upgrade the kid's bathroom before my own! And you know they'll never appreciate it! :veryangry:

I teach a kid who is both gifted and OCD.

While I haven't seen his room, I have seen his desk and locker. Even OCD kids are still kids.

you know I've been wondering about that. My first reaction was that it was a parent's doing; having everything so picture perfect in that room; a real control freak. But if it is a kid with OCD, I see it quite differently. Not something I'd want to make fun of.

Meh -- the kid needs to be laughed at. It might do him so good. I soooo agree with you. :fallenhalo:

Looks like a room a perfect parent would want for a perfect kid - at least one idea of perfect.
