I've seen only Avatar. Predictions I've read have said The Hurt Locker, which is what I picked in my office's Oscar pool. |

Ok, I finally got around to watching Avatar. It sucked. I mean, I think it blows big time. I have never sat through such a huge amount of regurgitated pabulum. Even though the visuals were good, I almost didn't finish it. Honestly. For my money, Up or A Serious Man should win, although I haven't seen The Hurt Locker or Up in the Air. |

I've only seen three so far, D9, IB, and Up. Of those three, Up! The other nominees are in my Netflix queue. |

I haven't watched an Oscars ceremony since that bloke with the dodgy Scottish accent from Jurassic Park shouted 'The British are coming!'. I never found them as exciting as he clearly did. |

I believe the question should correctly be written: Which movie will win Best Picture. "Who" implies a person.

I got second place in the Oscar Pool. Shouldn't have voted for Morgan Freeman - that's what tipped it. The only nominated (for anything) movies I saw were Up and Star Trek. Apparently I'm just a good guesser. |

I actually saw 4 of the 10 nominated movies. I was surprised at some of the nominations. "Up in the Air" was a good movie. Was it Oscar-worthy? Not in my opinion. It was a nice "small" movie. Small movies can be good, but this wasn't exceptional. "Hurt Locker" was really good, but, not the cinematic tour-de-force that "Inglorious" was. I thought IG was a better crafted movie. But, what do I know? I can't even title the thread correctly.

Quotes from around the web: “Here’s how you determine who’ll win Best Documentary: the environmental pic wins unless there’s a Holocaust contender. Cynical but true.” "Steve Martin just made a reference to one of his movies that's something like 45 years old. Nothing like staying relevant, Oscars." "Forget that the song was great. Anyone named "T Bone" deserves the awards hands down." "I've lost the will to live. It's been 2 1/2-hours of hell so far. George Clooney's sour puss can't hold a candle to my grimace. " "Tom Hanks keep running for the Mayor Of Hollywood. I can't believe he's showed up for yet another Academy Awards where he's not nominated." |

Oh, yeah... Just to show you how accurate the Oscars are ("Forest Gump" vs. "Shawshank.") One of the best soundtracks EVAH! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQBmTvIwfCQ THAT's what movie music should sound like. Yeah, he didn't win either (go ahead, see who won - look it up). |

I still hold a grudge against the Oscars for giving The English Patient Best Costume Design. I don't even remember who I thought should win now, but I'm still holding the grudge. |

Now we've also seen Up in the Air and Hurt Locker. Up in the Air, I think it got the nomination for being timely, background on the economy, was the story otherwise worth a nomination, I don't think so. Hurt Locker as Best Picture, I don't see it, but again it's timely. I wonder if they will be as interesting to watch in 20 years. I still think Up was the best of the five I've seen so far. Manalive, I still have five more nominees to watch. Well aren't they clever. |

Hurt Locker was just not particularly interesting as a story -- I really didn't care about the central figure (James) and cared more about the guys in his squad. Parts were very predictable, such as the colonel who gets himself killed. Maybe it won BP as a slap to Cameron, but it as a war movie it was nowhere in the caliber of Black Hawk Down. What does "Hurt Locker" mean as an expression? |

Just saw Avatar last night. Was a great and thrilling movie! I dont see it as being in any top 10 lists in my book, or even in any top 100 lists.......but it was a fantastic ride! ....for a movie that was nearly all a cartoon, of course. |

Since they had already outlawed blanket parties when I was in boot camp, guys would cram so poor loser into his locker, which was very very narrow, and lock it. I'm told it hurt alot! |
