The ethics of organ harvesting are not settled.

Just curious, why didn't you say 'The ethics of organ donation are not settled.'?
For the same reason Republicans call it a "death" tax, even though you aren't taxing death. You're taxing assets.
It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.

because the ethical question regards harvesting, not donation.
The dogma lives loudly within me.

A poll tax doesn't mean that you're taxing polls.

I think a better solution is to give people the option to donate organs with a complete exemption from estate taxes for their survivors. If it is of such great value to implement a mandatory program to force people to decide, then it is worth making it worth their while.
organ value for the rich.. but not the poor

i find that idea quite horrifying and politically twisted... i can see the nonaborted gaining tax exemption in that twisted way.

Ok, so how about if the rich get an exemption and the poor get a tax credit? :lol2:

Cheers
I think there should be a market in solid organs, with special rules that help the non-rich. The net result would be benefits for all.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
