I had no idea. I am surprised to hear that Germany, the U.S. and Japan, all quite competitive globally in industry and science, have widely different attitudes on how the young are educated.

My apologies .. I didn't read the entire article.

My opinion?

I think kids here [Canada] spend too much time in all day school & in extracurricular activities. Half day school would be a good thing. Kids need time just to play, to socialize, just to be kids. The world is spinning much to fast nowadays. It's time to slow down I believe.
