Obama announced a $3.8 trillion budget today.

And the Dow was up 118.

What do you make of that?

First, I never said that "Obama's moves affect the market the day they are announced". I did say that markets react, but you insisted that the markets already factor everything in or, in your rather bizarre words, "The market prices in known events, way ahead of time..."

The explanation today? I have no idea, but some think it is a reaction to the Institute for Supply Management's announcement that factory activity is the strongest since August of 2004. Or did the markets already know about that way ahead of time, too?

Bizarre for someone who doesn't understand markets, perhaps.

As for the ISM's announcement? I have no idea whether the market knew that, or not. But, if you asked someone who worked on the floor of the exchange, I'd bet they'd know.

Of course they would, Quirt.

HOLY CARP!!!
Now, see, the ISM announcement is a reflection of the success of Obama's economic policy, and the market's reaction to it signals approval. :thumb:

But Ax - Obama hasn't been in office long enough to have an effect, you know. It must be something Bush did, like everything else.

I sense the spark of enlightenment. Be careful to cultivate it so that it doesn't get snuffed out.

So healthcare reform discussed to date is really BushCare.

Which Mr. Obama has wisely discredited.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy
