iPhone help sought

I am unable to transfer apps purchased through iTunes on my computer(which is authorized - I checked) to my iPhone. I've googled and looked what some of the forums have to say, which all seem to deal with transferring apps from the phone TO iTunes, which works just fine for me. I have been unable to find any discussion of the problem I'm having.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
I think most people download them directly to the phone. I know that's what my daughter does.

You download from the App store to the iPhone - you shouldn't be billed if you have already purchased the App.

[edit] Or maybe you can also do it with sync
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I've been hesitant to try re-downloading from the store to the phone out of concern for being charged twice, but maybe I'll try it and see.

Synch seems to only work in one direction; from the phone to iTunes, as far as apps are concerned.

I usually do. I think it was here I read a thread about the 100 best apps, and bought them on the computer while I was on line. I just assumed it would be obvious to be able to transfer them back and forth between my computer and phone.

Good question OT. I'm wondering the same thing. I download to 2 shuffles [classical & modern]. But now I've got this iPhone. I'm a complete idiot when it comes to these things.

I buy apps at the iTunes store all the time. Then they download to my iPhone when I sync. I haven't had any problems so I'm not sure what's happening with yours. There's always stopping by an Apple store to ask.

I also know that, if you try to re-purchase an App you already own, it will tell you that already own it.

Don't ask me how I know this.

While you're syncing, have you tried: Store/Check for Available Downloads?

I knew it was going to be something stupid simple.

I just found the tab for applications on the iPhone window in iTunes. I set it to synch apps back to the phone.
