Intent is kind of a big deal when you're talking about legal issues. You can't possibly tell me the guy with the joint in his wallet has the same intent as the guy driving the truck full of weed.

Then someone who punches another should be the same as someone who breaks someone's arm.
Both are bad.

I'm hearing here that one joint is not bad at all, not in any way, not even a little bad.

It's illegal. At most, it's a misdemeanor, and hardly worth bothering with, if I pull someone over and discover that they are DUI. Who cares about the possession of a single joint when the individual is going to be prosecuted for something much greater.

That's like busting someone for illegal possession of a weapon, when they've just gunned down four people. Who gives a sh!t about the possession charge, at that point?
