Apparently, yes: http://screenrant.com/arnold-schwarzenegger-expendables-rob-5602/ Maybe he'll donate his salary to help reduce California's deficit. |

Yea, I had to double-check the date to be sure it was 2010. I thought I had some weird list of old movies... |

Apparently that news hasn't reached the article's author, who seems to be located in London. |

The movies I'm looking forward to: 'Shutter Island' - Scorsese + Leo = maybe the best combo in the last 10 years. 'Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps' - Shia should be terrific in this role 'Iron Man 2' - The first one was terrific, this one should be great with the addition of Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, and Samuel L. Jackson 'Robin Hood' - If Scorsese + Leo is the best combo, Scott + Crowe is the 2nd best combo in the last 10 years 'Inception' - The trailer(s) for this one rank up there with the trailers for The Dark Knight, Pearl Harbor, LOTR, Matrix 2, and Thirteen Days....absolutely incredible. 'Toy Story 3' - Pixar. 'nuff said. |

Gotta wonder about that -- I don't see Crowe in that role. |

Hmmm, I do. I see a Gladiator-esque performance and a chance to give the story a fresh look/feel. |

89th, I've been seeing previews for Shutter Island for a long time -- I kept wondering when it was coming out. It looks like a great thriller. Inception does look interesting, if the writing is excellent. |

Anything would be welcome. I avoid Robin Hood movies because they're so lame. I doubt Crowe will go for the bright green tights. |

If they could get us a dark take on Robin Hood, I think Crowe would be great. I'm not sure that Ridley Scott usually gives us that, however. We'll see. |

Gotta be better than Costner!

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool. I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss! - Cecil Lewis

F*** the movie. Read the book. Dennis Lehane - who wrote Mystic River, and Gone Baby Gone, which were made into two other pretty good movies. Edited by Phlebas, Jan 12 2010, 10:27 AM.

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

Could be an age thing. Prince of Thieves came out when I was nine, and I saw it somewhere close to then so maybe I give it too much leeway (I still think Willow's one of the greatest movies of all time, for similar reasons.) But seriously. Waterworld was at least fun to watch, if not a good movie. The Postman was just garbage. 3000 Miles to Graceland was poop. And the untouchables was a good movie but I think Costner was bad in it. He's been in a lot of bad stuff. I place Prince of Thieves up with his others that weren't an embarrassment like Open Range and For The Love of the Game. |

I was eleven when Prince of Thieves came out, and even then I can recall thinking in disbelief that someone, somewhere thought Costner would be good in the role. Rickman was awesome though. I thought he was good in the Untouchables, Bull Durham and Dances with Wolves. Also pretty good in Thirteen Days. Never did see Waterworld or the Postman. |

You know, I liked Field of Dreams, but I didn't like Costner in it. He seemed to be sleepwalking through it. Even in his good roles, he often seems dazed and confused. |

I'll always associate the Costner Robin Hood with that lame Bryan Adams song. BTW, here's the Crowe version trailer: http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi630391833/ |
