I highly recommend the slap-chop. Finest @$!#!ing piece of kitchenware ever broken on first use. :D :cursing:
Did you get two at the time; all you had to do is pay shipping!

We are enjoying our Anolon, however, they are non-stick.

Currently, we are experimenting with cardboard pans hanging from the kitchen ceiling to see if I can convince my wife to get a bar pot rack and free up that cabinet space and get some easy access to the pots and pans.

I want to check out this Wagnerware Jolly. I like the handles on those. Wonder if I can get those up here?

Am I the only one here who just buys a few favorite pans & not the whole set? I'm not much of a cook. Do you set buyers use every pan? I'm curious.

I've bought Le Creuset at Winners Sue. Cheaper. Do you have one of those where you're at?

Sometimes the set is a good deal, but often it has a bunch of stuff I don't want or need. Even if you pretend those don't exist, though, the set may make sense.

Are the ones people buy in the sets different than the same name ones bought separately? Always wondered that.

I'm interested in the enamel on cast iron, such as the dutch oven. I think that would be interesting to try.
Cuisinart has a new set that was at TJ Maxx around the holidays. Just like Le Creuset, at a fraction of the price.
Those look nice too.

I bought a Mario Batali dutch oven, again a fraction of the price of Le Creuset. I liked the metal knob, the shape and size of the handles, and the dimples in the lid for self-basting.
I'm now trying to track down his 2 cup version of the above; I've been on the search for some good sized onion soup bowls, and this may the answer for me.
I've even seen Le Creuset look a likes at IKEA. I have three Le Creuset pieces, including the 5 1/2 qt oval French oven -- I love it.

Yep. I have to confess though that I don't care much for non-stick cookware. High temperatures ruin the coating.
. . . and Teflon at high heat emits a gas that kills birds.

We got rid of all our Teflon.

I like old cast iron.

Yup. That's where I found my Mario Batali dutch oven. Just sitting there, all by itself.

I've seen Le Creuset there too, labelled as 'imperfects' or something. Even then, the price was scary! But those blue pots really tempt me. Maybe now that I have the large dutch oven I've wanted, I can allow myself to be tempted by a smaller blue piece. :)

I love Winners.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
I just bought a new cast iron skillet for the bachelor pad OH BEHAVE! I mean apartment. They had a Calphalon 10" cast iron for a buck more than the 12" Lodge Logic pan like I have. I considered it, but the sides were almost an inch shorter which would have made a lot more mess with spattering.

Just bought this set:

http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-Multiclad-Stainless-Steel-12-Piece-Cookware/dp/B0007KQZWU

Worth every dime. A very similar set is this one:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11072505&sourceid=1500000000000003260370&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=11072505

Both are tri-ply stuff similar to All-Clad, but about half of the price.

And yes, they still make the American made Magnalite (not the Chinese stuff):

This is also good:

If money is no object and you want something very, very good:

Lastly, I like heirloom Wagner for cast iron. Lodge is currently the only manufacturer making decent cast, but it's not as smooth as the old line Wagner.

Jolly, that Cuisinart Multi-clad seems very nice. I think I could live with that type very easily. I'd still keep some of my other favorites to use with it, too.

I've picked up a couple pieces of the tri-clad Calphalon at TJ Maxx and am really loving it. I had a couple pieces of Le Creuset that ended up being huge disappointments - chipped enamel and broken handle. I don't like the non-stick or the aluminum because of leaching of things I'd rather not be ingesting. I love the stainless and Calphalon seems to be a work horse of a line.
