Evidently, according to Christopher Andersen, Ayers really did do so....

Ahh yeah, I do, despite what Mr. Andersen, the 'best-selling celebrity journalist', says.

What do you think, IT?

I think he's at least as commensurate with both the truth and populism as is Obama.

Maybe Andersen is being sensationalistic, I don't know, but until I see a sample of something that we know Obama actually wrote by himself (say some writing samples from Harvard or Columbia) I'll withhold my opinion.

I am curious, Jon, what you make of all the stunning similarities between Ayer's writings and "Dreams"

Its sad the extent to which modern American conservatism has devolved into a collection of conspiracy theories. We need a new William F. Buckley to bring it back. Maybe Newt can do the job.

Well, if it's any consolation, there's still xenophobia and homophobia.

Let's hope so. A democracy needs credible, constructive opposition to stay strong.

Boy is that true. I remember all those leaflets my very intelligent, Buckelyish FIL would give me every time JF and I visited alleging that the Clintons had orchestrated the murders of dozens of their adversaries.

I wonder how many people will defend Mr. Obama on this matter with no facts at all.

Probably about the same number who will convict him with the same information.

Copyright is at best a clue. It reveals no facts concerning authorship.

Jon, do you really believe that the copyright you see is proof of authorship, and that publishers always list the true author? lol

No it isn't 'proof', but then we can't prove the authorship of any book in the strictest sense of the word. Copper said there were no facts on either side, and that is simply false. On one side we have uncontested copyright, the claims of a reputable publisher, and eyewitness accounts by prominent individuals, up to and including the President of the United States.

On the other hand, we have the claims of a 'best selling celebrity journalist' as well as various bloggers, most of whom hail from the bowels of Wingnuttia.

One could say the same about those "prominent individuals" you mentioned as well as the President of the United States.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

Seriously????

How do you explain the parallel characters named Malik, Freddy, Tim, Coretta, and Marcus???? (for just one thing).

Oh, I know! Obama probably ghost wrote Ayers' books!!! Yeah.... that's the ticket!

Copper said there were no facts on either side, and that is simply false.

Let's be fair and point out that I said "people will defend Mr. Obama on this matter with no facts at all".

This doesn't mean "there were no facts".

It simply means that people, you for example, are willing to defend without them.

You may have found some facts since then, but that doesn't alter my original statement.
