That item is known as a Larf. Some of you may have heard the expression 'I'm just 'avin a Larf' used in English dramas by the lower orders, for example by a serving maid or Detective Chief Inspector in a Sherlock Holmes movie. This is their way of saying 'Just hand on a second, old bean, while I finish this delicious spot of tea'. |
