Going here today with my daughter to do a little Christmas shopping - it always gets me in the spirit - there is such beauty in the simplicity of the decorations that adorn the historic district. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyoPwirkdQo |

I was down there for a few days this past summer. What a beautiful place! (Although driving the Colonial Parkway late at night is scary as heck!) |

I was there a couple summers ago. I'd love to go in the winter. Have you ever heard the guy who does the harpsichord demonstrations? Some very interesting music. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

Still waiting for The Kid to get her act together. At this rate, we'll get there by dark.

The 2 years my wife and I lived in N. Virginia, we 'd visit Williamsburg at Christmas time, and in the summer; and Monticello in Spring and Fall. Will always remember the smell of the gardens at Monticello (not to mention that the smoke house still had a nice aroma!). Virginia definitely has some scenic places.

My parents have gone at Xmas time often and brought back many of the same views..In fact I recognize one, the shuttered door in brown paint. My Mom took a pic when it was open...the wreath is cut in half to allow the doors to be used! But when closed you would never know. I bought a fan form for our front door but the cold weather does the fruit in pretty quickly. And it is hard to get Magnolia leaves here. Have a great time and take lots of pics! |
