Santa and His Elves Stage Sit-in at Irish Supermarket
Jeanne Sager

Santa and his elves have been naughty this year. How else do you explain the standoff at an East Belfast supermarket that's got Santa pouting?

The BBC reports that Santa and his elves locked themselves inside their "grotto" to protest demands that they turn down their infernal racket, er, carols. Residents of homes near the Tesco in Knocknagoney complained the music was too loud and sounded suspiciously like "Christmas rap."

So Tesco told them to knock it off, and Glen Ross -- aka Santa -- and his elves staged a sit in. No word on whether they got any dollmaking done in there, but they had ample time to check the naughty and nice list -- at least twice.

They've been hauled out of the grotto, and the Tesco has offered them a new home just across the parking lot so they can continue to make kids smile. A percentage of each admission goes to a muscular dystrophy charity, so the supermarket had to turn off the Grinch and let Santa pump up the volume.

How about Zombie Elves?

The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.
