HOLY CARP!!!
|
My teacher has his adult students get together every other month for a Master Class. We stress out, gnash our teeth, and play for each other. Sometimes we go out for pizza and beer afterwards. We all get along but are usually, well, stressed when we're together. At the last pizza outing it was suggested that someone (all eyes on me since I live close to his studio) hold a Christmas party. So I printed up some invitations and offered to serve wine, coffee and dessert while we played Christmas music and socialized in a non-stressful environment. THis week I have been busy putting up my Christmas decorations and hope to have the tree up in the living room, near the piano. My teacher is bringing a lasagna and another student a side dish. A little dinner is coming together. My son's cello teacher is coming and she may play a Chopin piano/cello piece (Sonata?) with my teacher. It will be a small group -- 12 people. I am excited. It's this weekend. I'll let you know how it all goes.

That sounds fantastic! Having the stress reduced will make it even more fun for all. You are a good hostess. |

There's just something quintessential about piano music (and cello) and Christmas. |

How cool. I still have not heard from my Piano Teacher. I have been going it alone for most of the year. I hope he's OK. He usually comes to our annual Christmas/Lafite party. |

I was wondering about him, too Mark. Hope he's okay. Let us know when you hear. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

That should be great, R2. We have a group of couples who came together through Marriage Encounter that we meet with regularly. At Christmas season, we all bring some food and share dinner at one of our houses. We share stories from Christmas books and the highlight of the evening is when we gather around the piano to sing carols and holiday songs. Big Al |

Sounds like a lot of fun, R2. A group of my neighbors used to go out Christmas caroling in the neighborhood. Kazoos were doled out to those of us who can't carry a tune (I bet you didn't know its a traditional Christmas instrument). We'd gather for Christmas cheer after terrorizing the neighborhood for a couple of hours. We cut to the chase now and just focus on the Christmas cheer. The neighborhood is eternally grateful. Have fun and let us know how it went! |
