Life is crazy. My son Zack is doing very well, new words and skills emerge on a daily basis. He is growing and developing at an amazing rate now, and I'm lovin' being a dad. Here's the little man showing off some of the "artwork" he has made. So far he seems to be working mostly on abstract art ![]() ![]() Sue is pregnant, she's due on May 31st...so that makes her about 14 weeks into it now, fairly safe to announce the news. I'm not counting my chickens (babies) yet, though. Her big ultrasound tesing went well, the fetus is normal...whew! These days they can test for certain birth defects without amnio centesis (sp?) by using powerful ultrasound. Here's Sue with one of our cats: ![]() Now that it's getting colder there's lots of time indoors...here I am watching Zack as he paints a nice picture of a kite. ![]() I've been playing a bunch, it's time for Christmas tunes and parties...etc. My band has been doing well, we've got some more gigs coming up. For those of you interested in what this band is all about, you can visit Vaporbeats.com and click on "The Outfit". There are some playable tracks that were recorded with a handheld portable recorder...so the sound isn't professional, but you can get an idea of what I'm up to. We've got a gig coming up for the release of a women's hockey calendar. Lots of fun people and it should be a hoot. I realize I'm not as frerquent a poster at TNCR as I would like to be, but I do try and check in here each day to glance at a couple of interesting threads. It's good to see that everyone is doing ok. |

I'm new to this forum, so this is the first time we're meeting... Congratulations to all of you! Your family is beautiful. Zack definitely looks like a budding artist. I envy him. The only "D" I got in my academic career was in Drawing in kindergarten. My stick figure had no arms. Very left-brained, I are. Clearly, Zack won't have that problem! Good luck with the new baby. |

Thanks, John. It's good to see a new member here. TNCR is a fairly small and tight-knit group. Lots of the posters here are very accomplished pianists and have met up in real life for "piano parties" or just to sit down and have dinner. I have not met anyone here in person, yet, but I will at some point. Mik wants to go sailing and I've been wanting to get back east for some travels..I would like to meet up with just about everybody here. Well...almost everybody! Do you play?

Great pics, FR! I love the artwork. As you may remember, my son is almost exactly the same age as yours. And, incidentially, my wife happens to be pregnant again, too (her delivery date is much sooner, though - we expect the baby within the next 10 days). |

FR - I love the way you have the artwork mounted as well as stuck to the wall, I'll have to start doing that, it looks really good. Zack is so cute. Klaus - GET SOME SLEEP!! |

Klaus I wasn't aware you were going for round two! I think about you quite a bit because I hang out with a German couple from Hamburg, they are really smart and...well...European. I think you are very similar to these folks and I enjoy their company immensely. Whoa..you're 10 days out, huh? Oh, man. What's the hospital like where you live? The one where Zack was born has these fold-out beds for the dads and they are the most uncomfortable friggin' things I've ever laid on. I ended up sleeping on the floor. How's your son? Is he talking? Isn't it amazing to see how things change just from day to day? It's fun waking up in the morning and hearing Zack talking to us from his room...new things he remembers come spouting out. This morning he said, "Sledding....crash...fun!" |

I use blue painter's tape so it will just peel off and not tear the paint off the walls. The tape gives a nice framed look and we celebrate Zack's art with him. He knows the names of all his paintings and he goes around touching them and saying, "Waterfall!...Kite!...Dandelion!...Hill!.." Art and music are very important to me. |

Thanks Mik. You will have to continue your sage parenting advice with me for a few more years! My boat is safe and sound in a barn for the winter...but average ice-off on Jackson Lake is May 15th. Then you'll be able to find me! |

Wonderful pics, FR!! Love the one of Zack showing off his artwork. I really like the red/blue one he is pointing at in that pic. The boy has talent! That cat laying on your bride is HUGE. He's like a mountain lion. And your bride looks so sweet. Congrats to both of you on baby number two. What a nice addition to the family. Zack will be a terrific big brother. ![]() KLAUS! I did not know you are so close to delivery time for baby number two! Are you all stocked up and ready? How exciting! |

Yeah - the one of Zack pointing to his artwork should be framed and hung on the wall. Congrats on the "bun in the oven" (as Deb so eloquently phrased it!). Edited by 1hp, Nov 30 2009, 10:38 AM.

I have no idea whether I count as "European" or am in any way similar to your nice ompany from Germany, but thanks for the compliment anyway ![]() Actually I don't know what the hospital is like. Many parents over here want to know exactly what everything looks like, whether they like the color of the wall etc. - my wife and I are mainly interested in whether the hospital is prepared for every possible emergency. I can probably tell you more in at most two weeks ![]() My son is talking (he started rather later compared to some little girls of the same age we know), and he is developing like crazy. He also has very peculiar food preferences. His favorite foods are cucumbers, soft-boiled eggs, and bratwurst. He is not at all interested in chocolate, cake, sweets etc. Unfortunately, a few days ago he discovered how ballpoint pens work. This means that we'll have to repaint a few walls and hide every ballpoint pen in a height of at least 5 feet (he knows how to use a chair to increase his range). Do you also have the problem of running out of space above 5 feet? But overall it is really great to have him around. Even if you come home in a very bad mood, he'll cheer you up within minutes. |

Love the pics, FR. That's awesome, putting his drawings right up on the wall for him. It's too cute how he's showing them off. Here's to a continued healthy pregnancy, and to you finding enough wall space for the next 100 feet of artwork.

Edit- Actually, apple, with the ultrasound we know there's only one heartbeat in there...so no twins. I actually would have been thrilled for twins (I've always wanted a big family) even though Sue expressed releif that it wasn't twins. Next ultrasound we will probably be able to see what the sex of the baby will be. Edited by Free Rider, Nov 30 2009, 11:12 AM.
